My Vegan Adventure

If any of you have seen #ThePowerOfMakeup videos and pictures that are sweeping across the net you can already tell where I am going with the whole Veganism idea.

I began my Vegan journey a short month ago. I took it slow, as you should do with any new diet. [If you start a new diet cutting out normal things you eat cold turkey you will have cravings and most likely fail because you didn't transition properly.] I began my first week as a Vegitarian. It wasn't that difficult since I had been a Vegitarian when I was in high school and during my first year of college. I lost a couple pounds, but that is to be expected with anything new your body is trying to metabolize.

I then cut out all animal products with the exception of honey (sorry bees!). Meeting my 1300 calorie goal was extremely difficult and because I was not meeting my food goals I slowed down with working out because I didn't want to do any kind of damage to my body. [It is very important that you do not overload yourself with working out if you do not meet your caloric/ macro goals. your body needs a certain amout just to function.]

Pros

I felt extremely good in the morning when i woke up. I felt like I still needed more sleep, but I wasn't as cranky as I normally am. I did have more energy throughout the day. I work at a Heliport and I'm very active on most days so not being fatigued was a huge plus. I didn't bloat at all. My cramping during my menstral cycle even went down and it lasted for only 3 light days rather than my normal 6-8 heavy to medium days.

Cons

I couldn't get my cholesterol up at all. My protein intake wasn't suffient unless I ate a ton of tofu, which I did a lot of, or frozen Gardein, which had a little too much sodium.

All in all I LOVED this diet. Going forth I know I cannot keep this plan because I am going to start back up on my workout routine. [oh yeah and in the past 2 months I've lost a total of 20lbs boo yah 173 to 153, which means 10 more pounds to pre baby weight]. I have been in the works of modifying my diet and will be adding eggs. I will not put an exact label on my diet because it's a strict vegitarian in the sense that i will only be adding eggs back into my life, but I'm also not going to turn down a juicey turkey burger either.
