How much water are you drinking? Most people know that drinking water is healthy for you, but if you ask them why, they can't answer. Well, I have some answers for you.

Water aids in hydration throughout the body, digestion and weight loss making it healthy and necessary for day to day activities.

Body Hydration

Your brain is 95% water.

Your blood is 82% water.

Your lungs are 90% water.

Now 75% of Americans suffer from mild chronic dehydration. So much as a 2% shrinkage in your brain water can cause fatigue and brain fog (2). This condition is not good for your blood, kidneys, electrolyte balanced with sodium/ potassium… Water equals very important to overall health.

Digestion

Why is water important for digestion? First, digestion is the process that is required to break down nutrients and supply them as energy throughout the body. Water is needed to produce hydrochloric acid at the respective pH levels and providing mucous to our stomach lining (1). Water metabolizes food and reduces constipation (2).

Weight Loss

While a lot of people don’t want that pesky “water weight”, it is essential you do not deprive your body of water. Water helps properly metabolize stored fat (2). So if you are not drinking water, you’re actually going to be storing all the food you are eating, even if it’s healthy, you will still store it as fat because there is no water to metabolize it properly.

How much should I be drinking?

Many people are unsure on how much to drink. It is body specific. You will want to take your actual body weight and multiply it by .55 and .7 for an accurate daily intake in ounces.

For example:

Bodyweight X .55 and Bodyweight X .7

135 X .55 and 135 X .7

74.25 and 94.5

A person who weighs 135lbs should be taking in 74 to 95 oz of water per day.

*You should be adding 12 oz. of water per caffeinated beverage.

*You should be adding 12 oz. of water per 30 minutes of exercise.

*You should be adding 12 oz. of water per 30 minutes of sauna time.

There are obviously many other benefits to drinking water such as, but not limited to;

  • Healthier radiant skin

  • Reduces Fatigue

  • Helps build muscles as well as helps muscles tone

  • Healthier Joints

  • Healthier Mind

  • etc...

Because of BPA you want to limit water bottles. They have unnecessary toxins. I recommend getting a filter system of some sort. You can easily find these on Amazon or even at walmart. If you have a natural spring well, I envy you!
